We created this site to find the good hair loss treatment. In the process we had the chance to try out, look at, and review a lot of hair loss products. Not surprisingly, we have found that a lot of them does not really work. Here are a couple of pages on my site you might want to look at:

Propecia Reviews

Propecia is an FDA-approved once-a-day prescription drug in pill form containing 1mg of the generic Finasteride drug. It’s formulated with the aim of arresting progressive male pattern baldness or Androgenetic Alopecia commonly occurring at the vertex (head crown) and anterior mid scalp areas and restoring healthy hair growth with repeated use.

Clinical tests have shown it to be 90% effective in the men treated with it with results becoming increasingly evident starting on the third month of use. The drug is manufactured in the US by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp, a subsidiary of the giant pharmaceutical company Merck & Co.

How Propecia Works?

Propecia is the first and only prescription hair loss pill approved by the FDA and is prescribed for men only and not to be used by women or children. Once the drug starts to work and you see hair growing, discontinuing it will cause the hair loss to resume, as would any other effective hair loss treatment. And if after 12 months, no hair is grown, Propecia is not for you.

Propecia’s active ingredient Finasteride works by significantly reducing the formation of Dihydrotestosterone or DHT in the scalp, the main cause of male pattern baldness in genetically predisposed men. DHT shrinks hair follicles at the top and mid-scalp areas of the head causing them to produce increasingly thinner hair strands and eventually die out. Propecia blocks DHT formation with regular use.

While clinical tests have shown it to be 90% effective, it works best treating mild to moderate males pattern baldness where there are still hair follicles to rescue. As in any other hair loss solution, nothing much can be done to revive dead hair follicles.

Where To Buy Propecia?

Propecia is available in most major drugstores and pharmacies but as an FDA- prescription hair loss pill, it cannot be obtained over the counter without a relevant doctor’s prescription order. As such, patients need to consult with their doctors prior to purchase. It is also not readily obtainable online. Some online drugstores will require a faxed copy of your prescription while some will require you to enroll in a program with your prescription number to buy one and enjoy a promotional discount.

The Propecia site at www.propecia.com/finasteride/propecia/consumer/about-propecia/12-month-promise.jsp offers a 12-month treatment program with a money back guarantee for a full refund of your 12-month Propecia purchases if you don’t at least maintain you hair when you first started the regimen. The program and the refunds could reach about $880 for the 12-month duration excluding rebates and savings. You need to go through the patient information process in the site to be eligible for the program.
