How To Use Essential Oils Andssage for Hair Growth?

Distilling essential oils from known herbs is an extraction process that brings out the therapeutic and medicinal qualities these herbs are known for over the years or centuries in treating various ailments including skin, hair and scalp problems.

Finding The Right Essential Oils

Ruling out other hair loss causes like an unhealthy lifestyle, potent medication like chemotherapy as well as diseases or stress-induced problems that cause hair to fall off, aromatherapy using the proper essential oils has been proved to be a viable alternative treatment in promoting hair growth and general skin health.

There are four types of essential oils each providing a different therapeutic solution:

Stimulating Essential Oils enhance metabolism at the cellular level to stimulate cell growth and two herbs with a long history behind it are used for this purpose -  Rosemary and Sage.  Both leaves provide tonic hair rinsing solutions that stimulate hair growth. The rosemary c.t. verbenone, a special rosemary variant, contains molecules that speed up cellular activity in the scalp.  The essential oils distilled from common sage (Salvai officinalis) also called dalmation sage has the most stimulating effects of all essential oils.

Nutritive Essential Oils provide essential fats and vitamins for follicular growth. The Carrot Rood and Sea Buckthorn provide antioxidants and B-vitamins to the hair follicles that neutralize oxidative damage to the follicle mitochondria in follicles that is often at the root of stunted hair growth.

Balancing Essential Oils as the name suggest, create balance between the extremes of dry and oil scalp conditions.   Lavender (lavendula angustifolia) is the best balancing oil that help balance the scalp’s natural oils while reducing cellular-level inflammation that impedes hair growth.  Green Myrtle is another balancing oil that promotes the right level of natural oils for the scalp.

Immune Supportive Oils get rid of skin and scalp infestations that deter hair growth. The oils get rid of persistent scalp fungal and bacterial infections that retard hair growth such as Alopecia Areata. Other essentials oils from the Myrtle and Cedar oils work in tandem with Rosemary, Thyme, and Lavender mixed in Grapeseed and Jojoba oil base carriers are excellent mild antiseptic that can treat alopecia aerate.

Base oils or carrier oils carry small amount of essential oils vaporized in aromatherapy and are often:

Olive oil

Jojoba

Grapeseed

Evening Primrose oils

While they may not carry any therapeutic benefit to the skin and scalp, they can preserver the potency of the essential oils being carried as they get vaporized.

Massaging The Scalp

Properly done, a good therapeutic scalp massage using just your fingers has been known to improve scalp heath and promote hair growth by improving blood circulation. It starts with the right choice of massage oils which can be any herbal oils like almond, coconut  and lavender oil warmed and spread over the scalp area to be massaged.

Always begin the massage from the hairline on the forehead progressing back to the skull base using medium pressure while moving your fingers in circular motion. Once done, repeat with stronger pressure and give the massage regimen at least 15 minutes each day. This massage regimen should also be done with any topically applied pharmaceutical drug meant to restore hair growth.
